A court here on Monday convicted a man and his mother to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in 2011.
The convicts were identified as Arifuzzaman, son of late Abdullah of Boro Bonogram Moholdar area under Shah Makhdum Police Station of the city and his mother Asha Parvin.
The court also fined him TK 1 lakh each, in default to suffer six months more of rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, Nasrin Akhtar, daughter of Nazimuddin, was burnt to death by her husband Arifuzzaman with the help of his mother and sister after tortuting her for dowry of Tk 1 lakh on October 30, 2011.
Nazimuddin filed a murder case after the incident.
After examining the records and witnesses, Rajshahi Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge Abu Sufian handed down the verdict.
