A woman and her minor son were killed when a wall of a water tank collapsed on them in Banglabazar area of Ashulia on early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Selina Begum, a readymade garment worker from Saghata upazila of Gaibandha district and her son Siam Hossain, a student of class one.
Locals said they woke up hearing a loud noise in the late of the night and found water around Selina’s tin-shade house. Soon they found that the wall of a water tank collapsed on the tin-shade roof. Selina’s brother Tutul was quickly rescued but the duo couldn’t be saved.
Humayun Kabir, Station Officer of Ashulia DEPZ Fire Service, told the media that, on information, a unit of Fire Service quickly rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.
