Two young men were killed in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in south Keraniganj of the capital on early Tuesday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. They were members of a robber gang, the RAB claimed.
According to the RAB sources, acting on information that the robbers were preparing for a robbery in the Jhilmil area of South Keraniganj, a team of RAB-10 conducted a drive there. Two people were shot in a gunfight with the RAB.
Later, they were rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 3:30 am, where doctors declared them dead.
DMC hospital police box in-charge (inspector) Md Bachchu Mia has confirmed the information and said the bodies were kept in the morgue for autopsy.
