A woman allegedly committed suicide after killing her four-year-old son at their residence in Bahalbaria village under Mirpur upazila of Kushtia district on Monday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Hena Begum, wife of one Abdul Karim and their son Hasibul Islam.
Abdul’s cousin Saidur Rahman said that Abdul has been quarrelling with his wife Hena in the past few days over an alleged extra-marital affair she was having with a neighbouring Sumon.
On Monday morning, the couple had a heated fight and Abdul left home for selling milk in a local market. Later, Hena committed suicide by hanging after strangled her son to death, he added.
Mirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam said that police recovered the bodies and sent them to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Initially it is being suspected that she committed suicide after killing son, he added.
