A court here on Monday convicted three people, including a mother, and sentenced them to death for killing her son in a planned way in 2005.The convicts are-Latifa Begum, wife of Iku Biswas, Manir Mollah, son of Ayen Mollah and Nazma Begum, wife of Lutfur Rahman of Nagarkandi village in Mollahat upazila.According to the prosecution, Latifa’s husband Iku used to torture her as she had an extra marital relationship with Manir Mollah.Latifa along with Manir and his sister Nazma made a plot to kill Sahab Ali alias Dipjol, the one and half year old boy of Latifa-Iku couple, for taking revenge upon Iku.On April 12, 2005 Dipjol had gone missing and his body was found floating in a pond adjacent to their house on the following day. A case was filed with Mollahat Police station in this connection.Police submitted charge sheet against the trio on May 10, 2006.After examining the records and witnesses Bagerhat Session Judge SM Solaiman pronounced the verdict in presence of the convicts.
