Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique called for providing children with moral education from the primary level as many having higher education are getting involved in corruption due to lack of moral values in them.
“Primary teachers should play major role to encourage children to possess the quality of honesty, patriotism and sincerity,” he said this on Saturday while addressing as the chief guest at a seminar on “Finalization of DPEd (Directorate of Primary Education) Curriculum” at the IER on the campus.
Institute of Education and Research (IER) of the university organised the day-long seminar with its Director Prof M Abdul Awal Khan in the chair.
The vice-chancellor said the standard of higher education won’t develop
without improvement in the quality of primary education.
“Because of that, Dhaka University is working to enhance the quality of
primary education side by side of higher education,” he added.
He called upon the researchers to find out ways to mitigate the social
problems through conducting research.
National Academy for Primary Education Director General Fazlur Rahman and
IER’s former Director Professor Jalal Uddin addressed the seminar as special
