The ongoing light to moderate rainfall across the country is likely to continue as Southwest monsoon has set in the south-western parts in the country, according to a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) office bulletin issued on Tuesday morning. “Southwest monsoon has set on over Chattogram, Dhaka, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Khulna, and Barishal divisions… Monsoon is strong over North Bay and deep convection is continuing over North Bay while the low pressure area over Cumilla region of Bangladesh and Tripura region of India has become unimportant,” the bulletin added.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions. Moreover, a few places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions may see moderately heavy to very heavy falls over the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am on Tuesday, it continued.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country. The maximum temperature was recorded 35.7 degrees Celsius on Monday at Dinajpur division and Tuesday’s minimum temperature 24.4 degrees Celsius at Tetulia in Rangpur.
