Md Joynal Abedin Khan :
Kamrunnahar alias Moni, who is nearest friend and classmate of slain Nusrat Jahan Rafin, confessed her guilt role in the sensational killing mission her at Sonagazi Fazil Madrasa.
Moni forcibly pressed the body of Nursat just a little moment before torching her by another madrasa student Zobayer on the roof top of a building in the examination center.
She managed three burquas for assailants Shamim, Jabed and Zobayer who were directly involved in the killing mission, said Md Shah Alam, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case. Moni called Umme Sultana Popy as Shampa to confuse Nusrat, the IO said. Moni and her another classmate Jabed made their confession under Section 164, while a team of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) produced them in the Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate court on Saturday afternoon
Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate Soraf Uddin Ahmed recorded their statements.
The four-month pregnant Moni was daughter of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) retired officer Abdul Aziz of Sonagazi.
Mohammad Iqbal said that Jabed and Moni were directly involved in the killing mission.
Jabed poured kerosene on Nusrat while Moni tightly held Moni’s body before setting her afire, according to him.
On April 17, Senior Judicial Magistrate Soraf Uddin Ahmmed placed Kamrun Nahar Moni on a five-day remand for her role in the murder of Nusrat.
PBI team arrested Moni on Monday night as accused Nur Uddin and Shahadat Hossain Shamim in their confessional statement revealed Moni’s name. Moni supplied them burqas.
Besides, the same court on April 19 placed Jabed on a three-day remand in connection with the case. Police arrested him from Chattogram on April 13.
In the meantime, members of the Police Bureau of Investigation arrested Iftekhar Hossain Rana, 21, at Rangamati Sadar’s TNT Colony on Saturday, said Moin Uddin, an Additional Superintendent of Police (PBI Chattogram Metro unit).
He said although Rana’s name was not mentioned in the case statement, they found his involvement in the murder during investigation.
The ASP added that Rana was allegedly guarding the madrasa gate when Nusrat was set on fire on the rooftop.
PBI members have recovered a burqa, believed to be worn by key suspect Zubayer Ahmed during the killing from Dangi Khal near Sonagazi College in Feni.
Three key accused — Shahadat Hossain Shamim, Zobayer and Jabed Hossain — wore the burqas on April 6 while setting Nusrat on fire on the rooftop of a three-storey building at Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, he added.
Alim examinee Nusrat lost her battle for life on April 10, five days after she was set afire for refusing to withdraw a sexual harassment case filed against the madrasa’s principal, Siraj Ud Doula.
A total of 20 people have been arrested so far in connection with the killing of Nusrat Jahan Rafi while seven people made confessional statements in the court and 13 people have been put on remand.
