During the lockdown of Coronavirus, two times National Film Award winning popular folk singer and Parliament Member Momtaz Begum stayed at her own constituency. She came forward for welfare of the people of her area. During lockdown, many singers of her area did not earn as stage shows were stopped. Families of those singers passed days with hand to mouth for last seven months. To keep in mind them, last Friday Momtaz arranged an evening of Pala songs held at Modhur Moncho at Vakum village under Joymontop union of Singair of Manikganj where different singers performed.
To keep the audience request, Momtaz also rendered three songs in the programme. She assured the local singers to arrange musical evening regularly in every month at Modhur Moncho.
While talking in this regard Momtaz said, “In our rural areas, the singers who renders baul songs on the stage they became helpless due to Coronavirus pandemic as there was no stage show for last seven months. Modhur Moncho is for baul singers. If we continue arrange musical evening regularly on this stage they will get benefit from it. I am always remaining with them.”
