Home Minister goes to Myanmar today

A two-day home minister-level conference between Bangladesh and Myanmar will begin in Naypyidaw, the capital city of Myanmar, on Tuesday.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan will lead a 12-member Bangladesh delegation while Myanmar Union
Minister for Home Affairs Lt Gen Kyaw Swe his country’s team at the conference.
The Bangladesh delegation will include two secretaries of the Home Ministry, Directors General (DGs) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Bangladesh Coast Guard and Department of Narcotics Control and Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Sources at the Home Ministry said the Rohingya issue will be high on the agenda of the conference. During the talks, the Bangladesh side will push Myanmar to take back its nationals who have taken shelter in Bangladesh.
Apart from signing of several memorandums of understanding, border-related issues, including drug smuggling, will also come up for discussion at the conference, said Public Relations Officer of the Home Minister Md Sharif Mahmud Apu.
The Home Minister will fly to Myanmar on Monday afternoon, he said.
