Mominul’s 73 gives Green team 143 runs lead on day 2

Left handed batsman Mominul Haque warned the national selectors with a well compiled 73 runs for Green team against Red team on the second day of Tigers three-day practice match held on Thursday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
Mominul played a typical Test like knocked which enabled Tamim Iqbal’s team a comfortable lead of 143 runs when the stumps were drawn on the second day’s play.
Another player fighting for his place Nasir Hossain also played his part with an excellent 62 helping Green team to increase their first innings lead. Young Tanbir Haydar also showed early promises as he struck a half century for Green team.
Resuming on 49 for 1 Bangladesh Green team resumed with Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque at the crease, they batted with cautious as Red bowlers bowled with immaculate line and length.
Mominul’s innings was cut short just before lunch when he was removed by Saqlain Sajib. While the other night watch batsman Tamim Iqbal was tragically run out going for a run which was not there out for 29 with the score at 63.
Dependable Sabbir Rahman could hardly prolong his knock as he was removed by spinner Taijul Islam for 10 runs. Nasir Hossain and Tanbir Hayder rallied the Green team were at the crease when lunch was taken. Nasir struck a superb 62 runs before being dismissed off the bowling of Naeem Hasan.
Tanbir Haydar also hit a fifty before Rubel Hossain bowled him on 51. Rubel captured three wickets – he took Liton Das’s wicket yesterday and bowled out Taskin Ahmed.
Sunzamul Islam who is a tail-ender scored 22 before Saqlain Sajib got his wicket. Saqlain finished with three wickets as well – Mominul, Sunzamul and the wicket of Rabbi who scored two runs. Bangladesh Green team finished with 283 all out from 78 overs.
They have taken a first innings lead of 143 runs after Bangladesh Red declared their first innings at 140 for 9 on the first day with Shafiul hogging the headlines with five wicket haul.
