With the second and final Test against Windies also came the end of the year for Mominul Haque in international cricket.
As Bangladesh will play no more Test matches in the remainder of the year, the Test specialist will have to go back to the domestic circuit, and start with the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL).
In 2018, Mominul scored 673 runs at 44.86 with four centuries in eight Tests, which makes him the top Test run-scorer among the Bangladeshi batsmen. The latest in Chattogram also means he now has the most number of Test hundreds as a Bangladeshi, alongside Tamim Iqbal.
So, how was the year for Mominul? He said, “Overall it was not bad. It was good. I could not score runs in one-two matches. Had I got run there, this year could have been even better. But as far as my individual performance is concerned, I will say the year did not go down bad.”
Mominul also termed it the best year of his career. “Obviously there will be some regrets. Making some more runs would give me a better feeling. But as I have scored four centuries this year, I can definitely call it the best year of my career.”
Among the four centuries, which one would be ahead of the pack? To Mominul,”Every single century is very important for a batsman. But there was one that saved us the match (161 against Zimbabwe in the Mirpur Test). I can say that was really good. The condition was also very tough to bat on. Then I would say the first century against Sri Lanka in Chattogram. First of all, it was 176 runs. And we managed to draw the match coming from behind. So, both centuries are equally important to me.”
