Saira Mohsin, widow of social welfare minister Syed Mohsin Ali, has been elected Member of Parliament for Awami League (AL) candidate for Moulvibazar-3 unopposed .
The election was scheduled to be held on December 8. Moulvibazar District election officer Istafizul Haque confirmed the matter to The New Nation.
He said, four candidates didn’t submit proper document out of five. In this regards four candidates’ nomination would be canceled. Only Saira Mohsin’s document was found valid .
He said, four candidates were: Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Front (BNF) candidate Md. Ashraf Hosain, Jatia Party (Ershad) candidate Syed Nurul Haque and Suhel Ahmed, Khurshed Alom. After the checking documents we canceled nomination of four candidates .
