Mohiuddin new FBBCI President

Md Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, the incumbent first vice-president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce
and Industry (FBCCI) was elected President of the apex trade body Tuesday for a two-year (2017-19) tenure.
The newly elected directors of the apex body elected Mohiuddin as their President in the FBCCI building at Motijheel yesterday evening.
The first Vice-President is Shaikh Fajle Fahim of Gopalgonj chamber and Vice-President Muntakim Ashraf from Cold Storage Association.
The Chairman of the election board and lawmaker Principal Mohammad Ali Ashraf declared the election results.
Mohiuddin’s panel Sammilita Ganatantrik Parishad won 32 of the 36 position of directors from association and chamber groups.
The election to the director posts was held on Sunday and the voters of association group cast their votes to elect 18 directors from the group that day, as the same number of directors from the chamber group were already elected unopposed.
Thirty-six elected directors along with 24 nominated directors (12 from the chamber group and 12 from the association group) chose the President and vice-presidents of the FBCCI.
Mohiuddin was the nominated director from Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association.
The election board will announce formally the final result of the election on May 21.
