Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited reached the Super League of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) beating Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity in ‘Super Ovar’ in their rain-interrupted match at the BKSP Ground-4 in Savar on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club piled up a fighting total of 88 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 10 overs (10 overs were curtailed due to rain) and then restricted Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity to 88 for the loss of five wickets in 10 overs.
Thus the fate of the match was decided in the ‘Super Over’.
Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity scored 13 runs in the ‘Super Over’.
Mohammedan chase the winning target making 14 runs using the last ball of the ‘Super Over’
Earlier, opener Abdul Mazid of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited hit a superb 57. His 30-ball innings saw four sixes and five fours. Abdul Mazid was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Irfan Hossain of Khelaghar captured four wickets in the space of nine runs, while Tipu Sultan and Saddam Hossain took one wicket each conceding 16 and 18 runs respectively.
Later, Masum Khan remained unbeaten with 33. His 17-ball innings had three fours and a sixer.
Jahurul Islam of Khelaghar played a captain’s knock of 28. His 15-ball knock was laced with two sixes and three fours.
Pacer Taskin Ahmed of Mohammedan bagged two wickets fat the cost of 22 runs, while Shuvagata Hom, Abu Jayed and Asif Hossain took one wicket each for 10, 14 and 17 runs respectively.
Meanwhile, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club defeated Dhaka Abahani Limited by 28 runs in their match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on the same day. Prime Doleshwar and Dhaka Abahani confirmed their Super League berth.
Opting to bat first, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club made 132 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs and then all out Abahani Limited for 104 off 19.5 overs.
Opener Saif Hossain of Prime Doleshwar hit a marvelous 58. His 49-ball innings was studded with six sixes and one four.
Imran Uzzaman and Marshall Ayub added 23 and 20 runs respectively to the Prime Doleshwar total.
Mehedi Hasan Rana of Abahani grabbed three wickets instead of 28 runs, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib bagged two wickets at the cost of 26 runs. Besides, Mosaddek Hossain, Arafat Sunny, Mohammad Saifuddin took one wicket apiece.
Later, Afif Hossain and Mohammad Naim added 26 and 22 runs to the Abahani total.
Kamrul Islam Rabbi of Prime Doleshwar captured four wickets in the space of 11 runs, while Sharifullah bagged two wickets for 12 runs. Kamrul Islam Rabbi was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Rejaur Rahman, Shamim Hossain, Saif Hasan and Enamul Haque (Junior) took one wicket geach.
