Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited drew 1-1 with league leaders Bashundhara Kings in their match of the TVS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Bhasha Sainik Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Saturday.
Reigning champions Bashundhara Kings led the points table grabbing 45 points from 18 matches, while Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited took the fifth position earning 26 points from as many outings.
Earlier, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited defeated defending ruunners-up Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited after Shafiqul Islam has been appointed Head Coach of the popular Motijheel based club.
All the two goals were scored in the first half.
Morsalin of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited put his team ahead in the 11th minute of the play.
Bashundhara’s Brazilian midfielder Miguel Ferreira equalized the margin by a forceful long-range shot in the 34th minute of the match.
Earlier, Mohammedan Morasalin got a ball from a corner of his teammate Jafar Iqbal but Morsalin’s shot was saved by Bashundhara goalie Anisur Rahman Zico in the seventh minute of the game.
Jafar Iqbal’s shot went wide in the 16th minute of the match.
In the 19th minute of the match, Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Robson Robinho’s shot was gripped by Mohammedan’s custodian Ahsan Habib Bipu.
Bashundhara’s Yasin Arafat’s shot was cleared by Mohammedan’s defender in the 33rd minute of the clash.
In the 67th minute of the game, Mohammedan’s foreign recruit Obi Moneke’s shot was saved by Bashundhara custodian Zico.
Morasalin’s free-kick went wide over the cross-piece in the 76th minute of the match.
Earlier, Bashundhara Kings defeated Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by two goals to nil in the first round match.
