Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called up Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to greet her ahead of Ramzan.
Hasina’s Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury informed this news agency of the bonhomie.
The prime minister, who is currently in the UK, received the call from her Indian counterpart on Tuesday morning.
He said Modi had greeted Hasina on behalf of his country and people.
“The prime minister, too, extended warm wishes to India’s Muslim community,” Chowdhury added.
Modi thanked Hasina and the people of Bangladesh for the hospitality during his Dhaka visit, the press secretary said. Ramadan is expected to start on Thursday in Bangladesh if the moon is sighted.
