11th National Parliamentary election: Mock voting of EVM held in Rangpur-3 Constituency

A good number of voters of Rangpur-3 (Sadar) parliamentary constituency casted mock votes using electronic voting machines (EVMs) at all 175 polling centres from 10 am to 4 pm today amid huge enthusiasm.
The Election Commission demonstrated the mock voting aiming at introducing the new voting system and educating electorates of Rangpur-3 seat like five other constituencies in the December 30 eleventh parliamentary election.
Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Enamul Habib with Regional Election officer GM Sahatab Uddin, District Election Officer Delwar Hossain, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ishraat Sadiya Sumi, Assistant Returning Officer Kamrul Islam and other officials visited the mock voting at different polling centres.
Under supervisions of the Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers explained the voting procedure and educated every voter for casting vote using EVMs at the polling centres.
Talking to reporters at Rangpur Government Girls’ High School polling centre, Returning Officer Enamul Habib said every voter would easily caste vote by pressing a bottom beside the symbol of own choice and then confirming the vote by pressing green button.
“We have completed all preparations and necessary demonstrations to enable electorates in casting their votes using EVMs in all polling booths of 175 poling centres in Rangpur-3 parliamentary constituency on December 30 next,” said Enamul Habib.
“There is no scope for rigging votes using EVMs as every voter will be identified first by verifying their national identity card number, finger prints and smart cards as well,” he added.
Assistant Returning Officer Kamrul Islam told BSS tonight that a total of four lakh 41 thousand 971 voters, including two lakh 21 thousand 109 males and two lakh 20 thousand 562 females, would cast their votes in Rangpur-3 seat this time.
Nine candidates including Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad (Grand Alliance), Rita Rahman (Oikyafront), Amiruzzaman Piyal (Islami Shasontantra Andolan), Shakhawat Ranga (JASOD), Sabbir Ahmed (National Democratic Front), Anwar Hossain Bablu (BSD), Alamgir Hossain Alam ((Zaker Party), Tauhidur Rahman Mandal (Khelafat Majlsih) and Shamsul Haque (National Peoples Party) are contesting form Rangpur-3 constituency.
