A mobile court in Kaliganj town had seized fake Aziz Bidi worth Tk 30 crore, bidi making materials and arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in making the fake bidi. The court also fined Taka 55 thousand and awarded six months imprisonment. In default, the accused have to suffer for another two months in prison.
The prosecution in brief was upazila nirbahi officer, also an executive magistrate Manwar Hossain Mollah conducted a drive following secret information at Debrajpur village on Thursday morning and seized the fake bidi and bidi making materials.
The court awarded six months imprisonment and fined Taka 50 thousand tom Aslam Ali. In default the accused will have to suffer another two months in prison.
The court also awarded two months imprisonment and fined Taka five thousand and penalled Taka five thousand to Akidul Islam of the same village. In default, the accused to suffer another 15 day’s imprisonment.
Aziz Bidi Company’s Legal Manager Rafiqul Islam said, the court seized at least 60 crore pieces of fake Aziz Bidi and bidi manufacturing materials form theeir possession.
The arrested were running fgake Aziz Bidi in the locality using fake papers for a long time.
