BSS :
Terming the election of West Bengal or India as the country’s internal matter, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday hoped that democracy will always win in the elections of India.
“This is our expectation that the existing relations between the two countries and neighbouring West Bengal will further be developed and become closure, and the unresolved issues will be solved through an amicable discussion between the governments of the two countries,” he said.
“We want to see that democracy wins and persists always in India,” the minister said replying to a query over the election in West Bengal at his official residence in the city’s Mintu Road. Replying to another query over a case lodged by Hefazat leader Mamunl Haque’s so called second wife Jharna, Hasan said she (Jharna) filed a rape case against Mamunul on charge of having illicit relation with her.
He said after being caught by the mob at a resort in Sonargaon, Mamunul introduced her (Jharna) as his second wife. But later, he told his wife over phone that Jharna is the wife of Shahidul, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.
Now, the minister said, the real face of Mamunul has now been exposed before the people.
He said the Hefazat leaders who gave fotwa in favour of Mamunul declaring that the relationship is legal without marriage are also identified as accomplices of Mamunul.
