After mob beating, a teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a second grade student at Shipahibagh of Dhaka on Monday night.
Md Farukur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khilgaon police station, confirmed the incident to The New Nation on Tuesday, and said the teacher was handed over to the police immediately after the beating.
The accused was identified as Abu Salek, who is in his forties.
Salek allegedly sexually assaulted a girl who went to him for private tuition, said the OC, quoting the family of the minor.
The OC said the victim’s family filed a case with Khilgaon police station and the court sent him to jail on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a video showed locals beating Salek tied with a tree in Shipahibagh.
