The body of a young man who went missing in the Karnaphuli River at Shilchhari in Kaptai upazila on Thursday was recovered from the river on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Hamed Hasan, 30, son of Kaikobad of Chattogram district.
Asraf Ahmed Russel, UNO of Kaptai upazila, said Hamed along with his brother-in-law Anwarul Arefin Anu went to the river for taking bath and both drowned in the river on Thursday afternoon.
On information, divers from Navy conducted a
rescue operation and recovered the body of Anu around 4:30 pm on Thursday while Hamed remained missing.
Later, local people found the floating body of Hamed in the river around 7:30 am on Friday and informed the matter to local administration.
Syed Nur, officer-in-charge of Kaptai Police Station, said the body was handed over to his brother Osman Goni around 9 am.
