The family members of a missing Awami League activist formed a human chain in front of the Siddhirganj Power Station in Narayanganj district on Saturday, demanding safe return of the victim.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members reportedly demanded Tk two crore from the family of Mohammad Ismail, 42, after the abduction, Josna Begum, wife of Ismail alleged. Ismail, a contractor of Kanchpur area, has been missing since February 7, she said adding that they (victim’s family members) received a letter demanding Tk two crore after Ismail went missing.
 Ismail’s family would have to pay Tk two crore to Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, who was the then Commanding Officer of RAB-11, in Narayanganj if they wanted him alive, Josna alleged. They could manage Tk one crore only for payment, she said.
But they did not inform law enforcers about abduction of Ismail as they were receiving threats from RAB members, she claimed.
In a separate incident, Riazul Islam alias Limon (22), a student of a private university, who was abducted on Wednesday on way to the university, was rescued on Friday.
 Limon is a student of Law Department in the city’s Dhanmandi. He has been living in a mess at Kalabagan. Masud Parvez , an uncle of Limon, said that the kidnappers had demanded Tk. three lakh as ransom money for his freedom. Limon was however, freed without payment of any money, he said. If the money was not paid, the kidnappers threatened to kill Riazul, Masud Parvez said. Riazul however, did not talk to the media at the DMCH as he is sick.
Having reached Jatrabari, Limon contacted his relatives using the phone of the auto-rickshaw driver who had taken him to Jatrabari from city’s Rampura area. The abductors hired the auto-rickshaw to drop Limon at Jatrabari, relatives of the victim said.
 Limon was kidnapped on way to the University on Wednesday. He was rescued from city’s Jatrabari thana area on Friday. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) as he had marks of injuries on his entire body. An abduction case was filed with Dhanmandi police in this connection. Limon was released from DMCH after primary treatment.
 Assistant Commissioner of Dhanmandi Zone Rezaul Karim told the media that they could tell details about the incident after interrogating Limon. Meanwhile, in another incident the body of Jubodal leader of Natore Ziaul Huq alias Sentu was recovered from city’s Hatirjheel area on Friday. The body bore several marks of injury. He was involved in purchase and sell of land at Savar area. Ramna thana SI Atiqur Rahman told the media that they could establish the victim’s identity having seen his national ID card.
He was dropped from a micro-bus by some unidentified persons on Thursday midnight., the police said. Later they chopped him to death, police quoting eye witnesses told the media.
 Nadir Hossain, elder brother of Ziaul said that they are from Baraigram,Natore. Ziaul left for Dhaka from savar on Wednesday in connection with purchase of a piece of land , Ziaul’s father in law Khandker Abul Hashem said.
 BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir demanded punishment of those responsible for Ziaul’s murder.
