Schoolgirl gang raped at gunpoint in Savar: Miscreants threat victim’s family members not to file any case

Miscreants have allegedly kidnapped a school girl at gunpoint and gang raped her while she was returning home after attending a marriage ceremony at Savar in the outskirts of capital city Dhaka.
Local sources and police said the incident took place at Miton village under Savar sadar union in the small hours of Friday, but police went to the spot on Sunday as the news spread in the area in the meantime with the discontent of local residents.
It is alleged that the victim’s family member being threatened by local union parishad chairman Sohel Rana and member Shukkur Ali did not lodge any compliant with the concerned police station till the date.
Admitting the fact, Inspector of Savar Model Police Station Mahfuzur Rahman told The New Nation on Sunday night that a team of police led by a Sub Inspector SM Mizan was sent to the spot on Sunday.
“But the victim’s family members did not complain about the incident. They said such occurrence did not take place. So no case was filed and none was arrested in this connection,” he said.
But quoting victim’s father local sources [journalists] said the girl is a student of class eight in a local school.
She went to one Sultan’s residence to attend a marriage ceremony. After attending the programme, she started for home at about 12:10 am. A gang of miscreants attacked her when she reached near her residence.
The miscreants-Anowar, Sujan, Rony and Saidul-abducted her at gunpoint.
Later they raped her one after another at a nearby bush. The miscreants left her abandoned at about 4:00 am.
The family members rescued the victim in the morning in a critical condition and admitted her to a local hospital, the sources added.
It was learnt that the miscreants are sons of locally influential persons.
For that reason, the UP chairman and ward member asked the victim’s family members not to inform the matter to the police. They also threatened to drive away the victim’s family members from the village if their directives were not carried out properly.
The UP member Shukkur Ali could not be reached despite repeated attempts through his cellular phone. The UP chairman Sohel Rana, however, admitted the fact and said that they have arranged arbitration to resolve the issue.
