An old woman was found dead at Gouripur area in Sherpur Sadar upazila of Sherpur on Wednesday midnight.
The deceased was identified as Farida Begum (60) ,wife of late Abdus Salam at Gouripur in Sherpur sadar upazila of the district.
Familial sources said Farida Begum was staying at home alone as usual. Shihab the grandson of Farida returning home at night called on her and wanted to open the gate. But there was no response from the home. Finding no other way Shihab broke the lock of the gate and entered the house. He saw the dead body of his grandmother was lying in the room.
Miscreants killed Farida cutting her throat.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Aminul Islam and officer in charge of Sherpur sadar thana Abdullah Al Mamun visited the spot and recovered the dead body.
ASP Aminul Islam said Miscreants killed Farida Begum cutting her throat. We are trying to uncover it and arrest the accused.
