Mirpur Lipi murder mystery revealed, husband held

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detective, Mirpur Division, has arrested the killer along with unraveling the mystery of the murder case of Lipi Khatun who was killed on April 17 by wrapping a scarf at her house in Pirerbagh area of Mirpur.
The arrested was identified as Md. Abzal Mollah, husband of the victim on Sunday. The detective police of Mirpur zonal team arrested him from the Sayeed Miah Hotel in Kawla Railgate area of Khilkhet Police Station.
Manas Kumar Poddar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mirpur Division, said this at a press briefing held at DMP Media Center on Monday noon.
The intelligence officer said, last April 17, 2022, a housewife named Lipi Khatun was strangled to death at her house in North Pirerbagh, Mirpur. The victim’s mother filed a murder case with the Mirpur Model Police Station on April 18, 2022. Later Detective Mirpur zonal team started shadow investigation of the case.
During the investigation of the case, with the help of intelligence information and technology, the husband of the victim Md. Abzal was identified and arrested.
The DB official said that the arrested Md. Abzal Mollah and Victim Lipi Khatun were married 8 years ago. This was their second marriage. They had been renting a house in Mirpur North Pirerbagh area for the last two years. There were marital quarrels between them over various issues. At one stage of a quarrel in the afternoon of April 17, the victim was strangled to death with her used scarf and left the residence. That night he slept at the airport over bridge and the next day took a job as a staff at the Sayeed Mia Hotel near Kawla Railgate. Abzal, who was arrested in the case of Mirpur Model Police Station, has been sent to a court.
