Minor trying to extort businessman posing ‘top Indian criminal’ held in Dhaka

A 17-year old boy started a job as salesman in a cloth shop after failed the SSC exam. But he is not satisfied at his work.
Although his father is caretaker of a businessman village house, he want be a rich man overnight. So he fled from home.
Later, he threatens his father employer identified himself as ‘Indian top criminal’ and demand extort money Tk 20 lakh.
For this reason, he also planted a fake bomb in that businessman car. But he did not succeed to his plane and arrested by detective branch (DB) police.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) DB’s Additional Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akhter confirmed the matter to the
ournalist in a press briefing on Thursday and said the boy arrested from Louhajang’s Holdia village in Munshiganj district on Wednesday.
However, the name and identity of the arrested person were not disclosed as he is minor. A mobile phone used in the extortion case was recovered from his custody, he said.
Described the incident, the DB chief said that a businessman in the capital Gulshan was extorted Tk 20 lakh through a mobile phone in the name of an Indian top terrorist at 4pm on January 11. He threatened to blow up with bomb his family members if he did not pay the demanded dues.
The next day, the businessman’s private car was parked and the driver saw the presence of a bomb-like object under the car. They informed the Badda police. Later, police removed and destroyed the bomb. The then police started the investigation and arrested the minor, he added.
In a primary interrogation, the boy admitted that he planned it two month ago and learned how to make bomb-like objects.
