A father has been accused of threatening cut to a 13-year-old girl and throw her into a river for not agreeing to the marriage.
Upon receiving the news of such a shocking incident, Shibalaya police and upazila administration rushed to the remote Alokdia Char of Shibalaya’s Jamunariver on Monday noon. The schoolgirl was saved from the curse of child marriage by the hand of the administration.
It is learned that the marriage of Solaiman (32), the married son of the notorious robber Sardar Julhas Mollah of Teota Alokdia Char in Shibalaya, is about to take place with the teenage daughter of Modi Mollah. If the girl disagrees with the marriage, the girl’s father threatens to cut her off and float her in the river for fear of the robber chief.
When the matter spread in the area, the locals informed the administration.
Officer-in-charge of Shibalaya Police Station Md. Firoz Kabir said, “I came to Modi Mollah’s house in remote Alokdia Char with Upazila Nirbarhi Officer on the news of forcibly arranging marriage against the will of the girl. If Modi Mollah and his teenage daughter were left out, the truth of the matter would be found.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jasmine Sultana said the girl’s father Modi Mollah had given her a bond on the condition that he would not marry her anywhere until she is 18. Local UP chairman, members and many others were present at the time.
Note that in the last few months, the robber SardarJulhas burnt his daughter-in-law to death. He looked at the girl for remarrying his son.
