A minor madrasa student, who was allegedly beaten by his teacher in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Shuvo Hasan, 7, a student of Doleshwar Islamia Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage.
The accused teacher Hafez Abdul Muktadir, 32, has been arrested.
It is to be noted that Shuvo Hasan, and three other students Shanto Hossain, 6, Zakir, 10, and Rahman, 8, were
screaming next room of their teacher Abdul Muktadir on Friday night. As a result, the teacher got angry, took the students to his room and beat them with a steel pipe.
Following the beating, Shuvo was critically injured. The following morning his classmates and aunt admitted him to DMCH where he succumbed to his injuries during the treatment.
Jhumur, aunt of Shuvo, told the media “Shuvo’s father had married a second time after the couple got separated. Later, his mother went to Saudi Arabia leaving him and his brother with me. I got them admitted to madrasa. But the madrasa teacher killed him.
Imaran Ukil, Sub-Inspector of South Keraniganj Police Station confirmed the news and told the media that they have arrested the teacher. The teach4er also confessed to beating.
Shuvo’s aunt filed a case over the murder with Keraniganj police.
