A minor girl was allegedly raped by a young man in Lalkhan Bazar area of Khulshi in the city on Sunday.
Police arrested the alleged rapist, Mohammad Harun, 26, a resident of a slum in Lalkhan Bazar area.
Officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station Nasir Uddin said Harun picked up the girl while she was walking along the road in the area and took her behind a rickshaw garage where he violated her.
Hearing victim’s screams, locals rescued the child and caught Harun from the spot, he said. After a mass beating, Harun was handed over to police, the OC said.
