Staff Reporter :
A Barguna court on Wednesday placed Aysha Siddika Minni on a five-day remand in a case filed for the murder of her husband Rifat Sharif.
Senior Judicial Magistrate for Barguna Md Sirajul Islam Gazi passed the remand order after Md Humayun Kabir, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case and also Inspector (investigation) of Barguna Sadar Police Station, produced Minni in the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
Claiming herself innocent, Minni told the court that she is a victim of conspiracy and she was threatened by the accused several times.
In the meantime, Minni’s father Moazzem Hossain Kishor on behalf of her daughter submitted a bail petition saying that Minni is not mentally stable at present. But the judge rejected the bail prayer and passed the order.
Aysha Siddika Minni was arrested on Tuesday night for her alleged involvement in the killing of Rifat after police found her involvement in the murder while quizzing her.
Police summoned Aysha on the day to record her statement for the case filed over the murder of Rifat Sharif as she was one of the witnesses.
Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif, father of Rifat Sharif and the plaintiff of the case, demanded immediate arrest of his daughter-in-law three days ago, alleging her involvement in the murder.
Rifat Sharif, 25, an internet service provider, was hacked to death in broad daylight in front of his wife Aysha Siddika Minni near Barguna Government College on June 26.
A footage of the murder went viral on social media triggering public outrage. The victim’s father filed a murder case with Barguna Sadar Police Station against 12 people on the day.
The prime accused in the case, Nayon Bond, was killed in a “gunfight” with police on July 2.
