Ministry remains silent over Regent irregularities!

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was informed about the irregularities and mismanagement in the name of providing medical service by Regent Hospital. But the Ministry remained silent even after knowing the issue.
However, a month ago the ministry got written complaint about the Regent hospital’s irregularities. The doctors who were appointed by the government informed the matter to the ministry. Later, the doctors were withdrawn from the Regent hospital without taking any actions against the culprits. Moreover, the officials related with the Regent scam denied to take responsibility of the misdeeds.
Almost everyday new complains are coming against fraudster Shahed.
According to the MoU signed with Regent Hospital, government appointed a number of doctors to Regent Hospital. On May 11, the doctors got verbal direction to join the work. Fraudster Shahed after called the doctors in midnights introducing him as Prime Minister’s personal assistant. Their experience after joining the hospital was horrible.
Cardiac Specialist Dr Md Shariful Islam said, Shahed phoned me and introduced himself as a Senior Secretary of the Prime Minister’s office. When I joined the hospital I was thundered that there was no X-Ray Machine, no pathologist, even no pathological activities.
Dr Shariful said, there were no security measures taken for doctors.
In the meantime, a junior consultant of Anesthesia department got urgent order to join the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to fulfill the Shahed’s demand. He saw there were no ICU facilities in the ICU department. He filed written complain to the ministry on May 15 in this regard. Within three days all government appointed doctors were withdrawn from Regent Hospital.
Mugda General Hospital’s junior consultant Dr Sharif Samirul Alam said, I also wrote application that there was no doctors, no nurses and also there was no ICU setup.
When contacted, the then Additional Secretary (Hospitals) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Sirajul Islam refused to talk with journalists about the Regent’s irregularities.
Ministry’s the then Additional Secretary Habibur Rahman said, ‘I raised question why we will be appointed as government doctors at a private hospital. Higher authority answered me there will be some government doctors who were recruited from BCS-39.
The Directorate General of Health Service Director (Hospitals) denied talking over the issue.
