The Hajj expense will be Tk 3,44,000 this year, up by Tk 12,641 from the previous year. It was Tk 3,31,359 last year.
The Cabinet on Monday approved the draft Hajj Package, 2019, fixing Tk 3,44,000 as minimum cost of package-2 under the government management.
A total of 1,27,198 pilgrims will perform the Hajj this year, according to the draft Hajj package.
According to the draft, government fixed Tk 4,18,500 as the maximum cost for a pilgrim under the government arrangement package-1 the amount was Tk 3,97,929, in 2018.
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam disclosed this in a press briefing at the Secretariat after a cabinet meeting held in the PM’s office with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presiding over the programme.
The Secretary said, a total of 1,27,198 pilgrims will perform Hajj in Makkah, Saudi Arabia this year. Of them, 7,198 pilgrims will perform Hajj under the government arrangement and 1,20,000 will go under the private arrangement.
The plane fare is Tk 1,28,000 compared with Tk 1,38,191 in 2018, Shafiul said.
The experts said that the Hajj may be performed by August 10, as per the committee’s searching the new moon.
