Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu said that militants have no root and history.
“Millitants are like water hyacinth . They are floating here and there, (they) have no root and no history”, he said this on Friday while inaugurating a two-day debate festival at Bangla Academy auditorium.
National Debate Federation (NDF) of Bangladesh organized its 8th national debate festival where hundreds of participants from across the country are taking part.
The Minister urged the participants to be respectful to the sacrifices of martyrs and said, “Those who stand for war criminals should be destroyed like Pakistanis.”
Economist Dr Abul Barkat said that debate makes a man logical and remove superstition from a society.
He asked the young generation to practice debate by saying, “Debate sharpens the consciousness of a person by breaking ‘poverty mindset’.”
Managing Director of Impress Telefilm Ltd Faridur Reza Sagor and NDF Chairman AKM Shoeb also spoke among others.
