The members of the banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) planned to ‘kill’ the high profile personalities of the ruling party and launch deadly attack on the country’s vital government establishments.
They also reportedly made ‘toy drone helicopters’ and remote control high technology based machines to execute the target.
Even several teams of the organization were deployed in this regard.
The Detective Branch’s (DB) Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam disclosed it to the reporters on Wednesday.
The DB spokesman said that several arrested members of the organization confessed in the police custody that they organized teams throughout the country to remove the government.
Earlier on Tuesday, DB police arrested two members of the ABT from the capital’s Jatrabari area. They were identified as Tanjil Hossain Babu, 26, and Md Golam Maula Mohan, 25. Mohan obtained his graduation degree in Computer Science and Technology Department from the Green University, the police official said.
“The law enforcers, including DB, had taken adequate steps based on information to avert any militant attacks,” he said.
He said that the arrest of militants will continue.
He said that the government banned the Ansarullah Bangla Team several months ago.
“Government is very active against militancy in the country,” Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) sources said.
