‘Militancy won’t proliferate in B’desh’

Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury said militancy would never spread in this country.
“Militancy cannot go along with the spirit of Ekushey (21 February, 1952) and the Liberation War,” he said on Wednesday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city on the occasion of International Mother Language Day. Bangladesh Olama Mashaikh Oikya Jote organized the discussion on ‘Threat of Al Qaeda – Militancy-Free Bangladesh: Pledge of Ekushey’ at the National Press Club. Presided Over by Jote President Maulana Abdul Halim Siraji, the meeting was also addressed by Dhaka Journalist Union (DUJ) former President and Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Special Correspondent Omar Faruq, Human Rights Chairman Syed Afzal Baker and freedom fighter Mostafa Hossain Chowdhury.
