Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said terrorism and militancy are big barriers to the country’s development and security.
She said this while responding to a tabled question from Golam Dastagir Gazi (Narayanganj-1) in Parliament during the PM’s question-answer session.
The Prime Minister told the House that Bangladesh is a country of religious harmony and its people hate communalism and militancy. After returning to power, Hasina said, the Awami League government took a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against militancy. “Bangladesh is now considered as a ‘role model’ in eliminating militancy through effective steps and planning,” she said.
Elaborating various steps of her government and their implementation, she said militancy is now under control in the country. “Peace, discipline and stability are prevailing in every corner of society,” Hasina said adding that the present steps of the government against militancy will continue.
