Mild tremor jolts Sylhet

An earthquake of slight intensity has jolted parts of Sylhet and India’s northeastern states.
The 4.8 magnitude quake hit around 4:15am BdST on Friday, according to the USGS.
Its epicentre lay seven kilometres north-west of Tripura’s Hailakandi, and
241km east-northeast of Dhaka.
bdnews24.com’s Sylhet correspondent said they had felt the tremor lasting several seconds but there were no reports of casualties in the region.
India’s IANS news agency said there were no reports of damage to property or casualties in Assam, Meghalaya and adjoining areas. The area is considered earthquake-prone by seismologists.
