Eid-e-Miladunnabi, the day of birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM), will be observed in the country on January 4 (Sunday) as the moon of Rabiul Awal was sighted in Bangladesh sky on Tuesday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee after reviewing information related to the sighting of Rabiul Awal moon.
The meeting was held at the Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram conference room with committee chairman and Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman in the chair. Religious Affairs Secretary Chowdhury M Babul Hasan, Khatib of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Prof Maulana Mohammad Salahuddin and Director General of the Islamic Foundation Shamim Mohammad Afzal, among others, attended the meeting.
