Miladunnabi observed

The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), was observed in the country on Sunday with due reverence and religious fervour.
On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Muhammad (pbuh) was born in Makkah of Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day.
The day was a public holiday.
Different Islamic and socio-cultural organisations and political parties held various programmes, including milad mahfil, discussion meetings and
Qurankhwani, to mark the day. Thousands of devotees, carrying banners inscribed with ‘Kalema Taiyeba’, joined the processions taken out in the city by the religious organisations.
Islamic Foundation also held programmes while a milad mahfil was held at Bangabhaban where President Abdul Hamid took part.
Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television and satellite TV channels aired special programmes on the occasion.
President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia greeted the country’s people and Muslims across the world.
