Metropolis School Table Tennis begins in city tomorrow

After a twelve-year gap, the Walton smart TV Dhaka Metropolis School Table Tennis Competition begins tomorrow (April 12) at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the city.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid is expected to inaugurate the five-day meet as the chief guest at 4.30 pm, sponsored by Walton.
A total of 197 boys’ and girls’ participants, from 26 metropolis schools, will compete in the meet, organised by Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation (BTTF).
The competition will be held in boys’ team event (under-16), girls team event (u-16), boys singles (u-16) and girls singles (u-16).
Tournament sponsor Walton has provided Taka 1.80 lakh to run the meet.
In this regards, a press conference was held on Thursday at the Bangabadhu National Stadium conference room to give all the details of the meet. BTTF general secretary Jobera Rahman Linu said they are going to start the tournament after 12 years gap and they have a plan to organise the school competition across the country in future.
