Meshes of wire at Motijheel area hanged on the electric pillars decays the beauty of the city. It is prone to danger and turned into a dead trap day by day.
Md Sujaul Islam, a Corporate Officer of the area, alleged that the city has turned into a jungle of wire due to mismanagement of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), and Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
It was learnt that 155.55 km area of DSCC and DNCC is covered with wires-jungles. During a recent visit, it was found that the wires-bush are roughly at Farmgate, Palton, Jatrabari, Gulistan, Bangla Bazar, Mirpur, Uttara areas in the capital.
But, the authorities concerned do not admit their negligence in this regard while contacted.
An official of BPDB with the request of anonymity alleged that the hives of wires increased day by day due to unlaid wires of dish and internet lines.
DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon said, “Disheveled wires badly tarnish the city’s elegance. We have decided to establish underground pipe-wire-line like the modern cities, which ensure the peoples’ safety as well.”
“Primarily we have taken some initiative to remove the bush of wires from Road No. 27 of Dhanmondi to Nilkhet to make it as a ‘Model Road”, he said.
