Police recovered the body of a mentally retarded young man from a ditch at Dangachhi village in Bagmara upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Shawon Ahmed, 18, son of Abu Bakkar of Deula village of the upazila.
Victim’s father said Shawon remained missing after he had left home on Monday.
Abu Obaida Khan, officer-in-charge of Bagmara Police Station, said local people spotted Shawon’s body floating in the water-filled ditch at night on Tuesday and informed police.
Later, police recovered the body and sent the same to hospital morgue for an autopsy. An unnatural death (U/D) case has been filed in this connection.
