The common people of the village are falling into the clutches of fraudsters In Bhangura upazila of Pabna. It has been reported that some members of the fraudulent gang are going to different villages and showing greed to the common people in various ways and stealing large sums of money. It has been alleged that sometimes they introduced themselves as NGO members or as policemen.
A villager Mokbul Hossain of Bhabanipur village under Bhangura union of the upazila said that a fraudster took Tk 20, 000 from him by promising to get a large grant from BRAC Bank. Similar incidents of cheating have been reported in Ashtamanisha and Dilpashar Unions of the upazila.
On Saturday, a man identified himself as a policeman and bought three goats from Shukur Ali’s sons Ayub Ali and Nabir Uddin of Bhabanipur Diarpara village. The man set the price of the goat at Tk. 37,000 and took Ayub Ali along with the goat to Bhangura market in a van. Later, the man left Ayub Ali in a shop in front of the police station and asked him to wait for the money. But he did not return, the goats was not found.
Golam Faruk Tukan, Chairman of Bhangura Union admitted the truth of the incident and said that Ayub and Nabi’s two brothers are very simple people. As a result, they were harmed by the frauds.
M. Faisal Bin Ahsan, OC of Bhangura Police Station said that after the UP chairman informed him about the matter, the police went to the field to search for the fraudster. He hopes to arrest them soon.
