Members of Bangladesh T20 Women’s team returned to the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. Bangladesh T20 Women’s Cricket team emerged the unbeaten champions in the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier after beating Ireland T20 Women’s Cricket team by seven runs in the final at Abu Dhabi on Sunday night. Bangladesh T20 Women’s Cricket team have qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in South Africa from January 14 to January 29 in 2023.
Bangladesh Women’s T20 Cricket will not get recess as the T20 Asia Cup is scheduled to be held at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and Outer Cricket Stadium in Sylhet from October 1 to October 15.
Bangladesh T20 Women’s Cricket team will go to Sylhet on September 29.
A total of seven team’s will take part in the T20 Women’s Asia Cup, the most prestigious cricket meet for women of the Asia Continent. They are: Hosts Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The first phase of the tournament will be held in the single league basis. Top four teams will get the tickets of the semi-finals. The two semi-finals will be held on October 13. The winners of the two semi-finals will face each other in the final on October 15.
Bangladesh will take on Thailand in their inaugural match on October 1, Bangladesh will face Pakistan in their second match on October 3, Bangladesh will meet Malaysia in their third match on October 6, Bangladesh will play against India in their fourth match on October 8, Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in their fifth match on October 10, Bangladesh will face the UAE in their sixth match on October 11.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Monday the Bangladesh T20 Women’s Cricket squad for the ensuing T20 Women’s Asia Cup.
The cricketers, who have been chosen, are: Nigar Sultana (Captain), Shamima Sultana, Fargana Hoque, Rumana Ahmed, Ritu Moni, Lata Mondol, Salma Khatun, Sobhana Mostary, Nahida Akter, Murshida Khatun, Jahanara Alam, Fahima Khatun, Shanjida Akther, Fariha Islam and Shohaly Akter.
