Sports Reporter :
Members of Bangladesh preliminary squad are well on their first day of the three-day quarantine at the Jet Young Beach Hotel in Negombo.
Chief Selector of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Minhajul Abedin said, ” Quarantine means loneliness. We are all staying our respective rooms in the hotel. There is no scope to come out from the room. Players, coaching staff, managers, officials all are staying their respective rooms.”
He said, ” The hotel staff fetch the foods and put it in front of our hotel. After departure of room service we collect our foods. The quarantine will come to an end today. The members of Bangladesh preliminary squad will take part in the practice session from tomorrow.”
The Jet Young Beach Hotel is adjacent to the sea. Thus the weather and the environment are really good. So, all the members of Bangladesh preliminary squad are enjoying their quarantine period. Negombo Town is situated far from 12 kilometers from Colombo International Airport.
It may be mentioned that the players of Bangladesh became bored in the quarantine period in New Zealand recently.
After ending their quarantine period they will participate in their practice sessions. Then the players will take part in an intra-squad match at Katunayake on March 17 and March 18. After watching the performance of the players of the 21-member preliminary squad, the Chief Selector and the officials of BCB will announce the final squad for the forthcoming two-match Test series.
The first Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will take place at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy from April 21 to April 25.
The second Test match between the tourists and the hosts will be held at the same venue from April 29 to May 3.
Bangladesh contingent will depart Sri Lanka for Bangladesh on May 4.
