Meghna trawler capsize death now 9

The death toll from Thursday’s trawler capsize in the Meghna River here rose to nine with recovery of six more bodies on Friday morning.
Seven of the deceased were identified as Ummeli, 04, Sumaiya, 08, Faysal, 06, Bayezid, 02, all were the children of Faurk Hossain, a resident of Baikarchar, Nuri Begum alias, Nurjahan, 60, wife of Shahabuddin of Bogargoat village, Felani Begum, 60, wife of late Rofu Miah of the same village and Farzana, 08, daughter of Sawpan Miah, hailing from Kalikapur village in Narsingdi Sadar upazila.
Fire fighters and BIWTA workers retrieved the six bodies in the morning.
Earlier, on Thursday three people including a minor boy drowned and six others went missing as a trawler sank in the Meghna River with 60/70 passengers on board amid storm while heading towards Bogargoat village under Karimpur union from Puran Char in Sadar upazila at around 2 pm.
Most of the passengers managed to swim ashore while the nine remained missing. Later, three bodies were recovered from the river on Thursday.
