Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has suspended the route permits of two vessels involved in a collision in the River Meghna, which left three dead. Besides the dead, 14 people were injured as the Barisal-bound MV Parabat-9 collided with the Dhaka-bound MV Sundarban-8 near Chandpur around 1:00am Tuesday. Certificates of two masters, survey certificates and registrations of both launches have also been cancelled. BIWTA Chairman Mohammad Shamsuddin Khandokar and Chief Engineer of Shipping Department AKM Fakhrul Islam told this to newsmen on Tuesday.
