Mega Beach Carnival at Kuakata to begins today

The first-ever ‘Kuakata Mega Beach Carnival-2017’ is scheduled to begins today with an aim to make the country’s southern sandy beach more familiar and popular to the tourists from and abroad.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith is expected to inaugurate a three-day long grand carnival at Kuakata.
Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir came up with this disclosure at a press conference held at BTB’s conference room in the city recently.
Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Tourism Secretary S M Ghulam Farooque and other high officials from the ministry and the Tourism Board attended the press conference.
“Successful celebration of a mega carnival will introduce Kuakata beach and the adjacent attractive tourism spots to both the local and international tourists,” Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir told the press conference.
He said: “BTB under the supervision of tourism ministry is going to organise the mega event as the year of 2016 was announced ‘Tourism Year’ by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”
Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) and non-government tourism organisations will organise round-the-year events till 2018 as part of the Tourism Year to brand Bangladesh as single tourist destination, said Kabir.
Kuakata is located in Patuakhali district, southern side of Bangladesh, which has a 18-kilometer long and 3 kilometers long sandy beach.
