Two siblings, including a medical student, drowned in a pond of Mahishakhola village in Kumarkhali upazila on Friday noon.
The deceased were identified as Jhuma, 23, a 3rd year MBBS student of Khulna Medical College, and Jui, 16, daughters of Amzad Hossain of the village.
Family sources said, Jhuma and Jui slipped into deep water while they were taking their bath in the pond. Locals rescued them and took them to nearby Khoksha Upazila Health Complex where they died after some time.
Meanwhile, family members alleged that there was no doctor at the hospital for an hour after the two sisters were taken there. Their life can be saved if there was any doctor at the health complex, they said.
